Collecting and Identifying Mushrooms and a Mushroom Foray: Fun for the Entire Family
On Tuesday, September 8, 2009 come to the Grafton Harvest Barn, 37 Wheeler Road in North Grafton. The Grafton Garden Club and the Grafton Land Trust are presenting "Collecting and Identifying Mushrooms" starting at 7pm. George Davis, past president and current Identification Committee Chair of the Boston Mycological Club, will have a slideshow so you can recognize the good, the bad, and the ugly in the mushroom world. This presentation is free for members of the Grafton Garden Club and the Grafton Land Trust, and $5 for non-members. Bring your friends. This presentation can be put to immediate use because on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at 2pm bring the entire family and take a walk in Gummere Woods at the corner of Wheeler Road and Worcester Street. The Grafton Garden Club and the Grafton Land Trust present the second half of The Mushroom Story. George Davis from the Boston Mycological Club will lead us on a walk through the woods as we collect mushrooms. Wear comfortable walking shoes, DEET, and sunscreen. Bring a shallow, wide basket to hold the mushrooms you'll collect and a mushroom field guide, if you have one. You do not need to have attended the slideshow to attend this walk. Following the Foray, all the mushrooms will be spread out on a table and identified by Mr. Davis. The walk and identification is free to all participants. Children of all ages are welcome. The Grafton Garden Club is a non-profit organization that has members from many area towns. The Club provides scholarships and grants to area schools for the educational pursuit of horticulture. |
