Grafton Garden Club Plant Sale and Raffle

On Saturday, May 16, 1009, from 9am to noon on the Grafton Common, the Grafton Garden Club will be holding the annual Plant Sale and Raffle to benefit the Scholarship and Grant fund. The Garden Club presents scholarships to students furthering their education in a horticultural field and grants to educators in the Grafton Public School District and the Blackstone Valley Vocational Technical High School to be used for projects and creative efforts designed to motivate the student's interest in plant and soil sciences, botany, horticulture, and the environment.

This is a great opportunity to grow your own vegetables and have fresh veggies that you know are safe to eat and cost less than from the stores. Enjoy fresh herbs that you grow yourself in your favorite recipes. Perennials provide color and interest for years to come. Annuals provide color and interesting textures from first bloom to frost and can prove to be cost-effective when considering the length of the bloom time. This year, the White House is growing a garden; shouldn't you think about growing your own food, too?

New this year! Make Your Own Hanging Basket. Along with the pre-made hanging baskets, the Grafton Garden Club will have a special table set up so that you can buy plants and the Club provides a hanging basket, soil, and pots up your purchases so you can take home a one-of-a-kind basket made just for you.

Don't forget the raffle, where you can take a chance at a variety of garden-related items and the garden-related vendors that will have items for sale to complement your home and garden. Grafton Garden Club, where gardeners grow, www.graftongardenclub.org.
