4th Annual Grafton Community Day

On Saturday, April 25, 2009, the Grafton Land Trust and the Grafton Garden Club present the 4th annual Grafton Community Day, an Earth-friendly event for the entire family. The day starts at 9am on the Common where you can pick up your trash bags if you did not get them at the Municipal Center this week. Once your clean-up is complete, call the Highway Barn, 508-839-8525 and let them know where your bags are (leave a message). They'll collect the bags on Monday for proper disposal. Then, return to celebrate both Community Day and Earth Day on the Common! Join the Grafton Land Trust and the Grafton Garden Club on the Grafton Common at 12:00 noon for a barbecue lunch catered by The Buggy Whip and provided free of charge thanks to generous contributions from Savers Bank, Wyman-Gordon Co., Wal*Mart, Grafton Suburban Credit Union, The Buggy Whip, Holy Cow Ice Cream Shop, Target, the YMCA of Westborough, and private donations. There will be live music provided by Josh Briggs and Friends (guitar and singing) from 11-2. Don't forget to visit the Grafton Land Trust table for children's activities such as: seed pot plantings and Find-a-Critter in the Haystack, and get GLT coloring books, trail maps, and membership information. Don't miss the New Member Referral Drawing for a FREE vacation at noon! FREE ice cream, provided by Holy Cow Ice Cream Shop of Grafton, will be served from 12-1PM. Bring your plant questions to the Grafton Garden Club table where local horticulturist John Mapel of Mapel Plants on Brigham Hill, & other Grafton Garden Club members, will be on hand to make earth-friendly recommendations to help spruce up your yard and answer questions about gardening. Select your seedling tree while you are there, get an Earth Day sticker and the kids can get a flower tattoo (don't worry parents, it's a temporary tattoo). You can enter the raffle for a Wal*Mart Gift Card, a Target Gift Card, a bag from the Westborough Y which includes a 3-month membership, and an herb grow kit! Proceeds from the raffle benefit Community Day. The 2009 Grafton Gardens Calendar is on sale for $5 each (proceeds benefit the Scholarship and Grant fund). Also on the Common, you can visit the town Recycling Committee table for tips on recycling at home, school and the office. Give yourself credit for getting involved in your community and thank you for your efforts to make Grafton beautiful! Enjoy the day and take pride in your cleanup efforts! Grafton Community Day is co-sponsored by The Grafton Land Trust, Inc. (www.graftonland.org) and the Grafton Garden Club, where gardeners grow, www.graftongrardenclub.org.

The Grafton Garden Club is a non-profit organization that has members from many area towns. The Club provides scholarships and grants to area schools for the educational pursuit of horticulture.
