Grafton Community Day, April 25, 2009

The Grafton Land Trust has teamed up with the Grafton Garden Club this year to embark on the 4rd Annual Grafton Community Day. On Saturday, April 25, 2009, businesses, organizations, and residents will come together to beautify and clean-up Grafton. Grafton Community Day includes a community-led spring clean up of the public areas, plantings around town, distribution of seedling trees to the residents of Grafton, CRT/white metal collection, and a host of festivities on the Grafton Common including a free lunch to thank all the people who help Clean Up Grafton along with kid's activities and other activities from town organizations. The Grafton Land Trust and the Grafton Garden Club are asking for your help - they need you to join with them for the betterment of the community. Here are just a few ways you can help:

1. Form a Clean-Up Team
Family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, community groups, and many others can form a team. Each team sets out to clean-up and improve a designated public or private area (get permission if it's not your own area). This is a great way to support Grafton, give the town a facelift, and have some fun. Everyone in Grafton, and those who travel through it, notice the effort put forth for the community. It's time to give Grafton another spring cleaning.

2. Help Sponsor the Day
While some can contribute their time and energy, others may wish to offer a financial contribution or a donation of goods and services. With an event of this magnitude comes cost. With the help of the fine businesses, organizations, and individuals of Grafton, the clean-up teams can give back to the community. There are five levels of sponsorship: Orchid($1,000+ ), Rose ($500-$999), Lily ($300-$499), Violet ($100-$299), and Buttercup ($10-$99). The list of the goods and services needed include table rentals, soda or water, chips, desert, entertainment (a DJ, magician, face painters, that sort of thing), help setting up before and cleaning up after the event. Please feel free to contact Michael if you want to donate something not on the list that you think could be of use on Grafton Community Day.

Please note that all funds raised for Grafton Community Day will be used for that effort alone. Monies raised are not be used for any other activity or purchase of any kind.

3. Nominate a Public Area for Cleanup
New this year! In your travels around town, if you notice a public area that is in need of a Spring Cleaning, please let Michael know. There will be teams that are looking for extra places to clean up. When you call or email, please specify the area, the address (or nearby landmarks) and a phone number or email in case there are additional questions. If you have questions regarding Grafton Community Day or want to register your team or nominate a cleanup area, please email communityday@graftongardenlcub.org. More information is available on the graftonland.org and graftongardenclub.org websites. Thank you for your help and support of this effort. The Grafton Land Trust and Grafton Garden Club look forward to working with you to beautify Grafton again and to meeting you on the Common for lunch on April 25, 2009.

The Grafton Garden Club is a non-profit organization that has members from many area towns. The Club provides scholarships and grants to area schools for the educational pursuit of horticulture.
