Grafton Garden Club Annual Meeting and Tea
On June 10, 2008, the Grafton Garden Club held their annual meeting and tea. This year, the Club toured three Grafton gardens with a progressive dinner. At the first stop on South Street, the Club wandered around the backyard admiring the different plants and enjoyed the hors d' oeuvres brought by members. At the second stop, just right up the street, the Grafton Garden Club members admired the herb gardens and partook of the wonderful dinner catered by Loaves and Fishes in North Grafton while seated outside in wonderful weather. The heat of the week was countered by the gentle breeze, making for a bug free event. The third and final stop provided desserts and an opportunity to see the gardens before settling in for the annual meeting where the new officers were elected and a recap of the previous year and a preview of the coming year was presented. Some of the activities planned for the upcoming year include a presentation on Herbs in conjunction with the Historical Society and the Willard House, a freshs Holiday Centerpiece workshop, a Holiday Centerpiece contest during Grafton Celebrates the Holidays, a presentation of succulents and cacti, a dinner and presentation on "Wildflowers of Grafton", a workshop on Native American Herbs and smudging, as well as the annual Grafton Community Day, the annual Plant Sale and Raffle, and a Garden in the Woods tour. Then, in June of 2009, we'll have the annual meeting and tea again. The Club year runs from July 1 to June 30, so if you want to join now is a good time. Dues are only $20 for the year and as member, you get first notice of upcoming programs and workshops, as well as discounted fees for materials for the workshops. To join, send your name, address, telephone number, and email address (if applicable) to Grafton Garden Club, PO Box 453, Grafton, MA 01519-0453 with your check for $20.
The Grafton Garden Club is a non-profit organization that has members from many area towns. The Club provides scholarships and grants to area schools for the educational pursuit of horticulture. |
